ANCESTORs WALL

Description

this is a very personal piece of art. i have noticed that my traditional art becomes a lot more personal than my digital art.. or perhaps in a different, more direct way. please view it in large.. to see the detail :)

THE ANCESTORs WALL ...... at first.. it looks chaotic. it IS chaotic i guess... and yet if you give it some time.. and look.. unfocussed.. just let your eyes drift over the image.. you will stop here.. and there.. and see. figures.. shapes .. animals.. humans .. bodyparts .. there are hieroglyphs and there are various styles to be found in this one image. why? i wondered.. thought about it.. no wonder really.. my family, my history is chaotic.. moving around, my family moving from country to country, east meets west, west meets east.. living here, living there. am i rootless? no. i have air-roots.. my roots are like bridges, connecting and touching the ground wherever i have lived, where my ancestors have lived.. going deep, getting nourished, drinking on different cultures and transporting this nourishment to my subconscious.. inspiring me. small wonder my styles change rapidly.. small wonder i dont stick to one... the influences are there.. inside of me.. the roots hold fast, anchoring me here and there.. i belong to the world.. .. i look at my ANCESTORs WALL and feel.. yes.. that is my history.

Another interesting piece with a primal feel. Great work Pat!
Thanks for the incites into both you and the work

I hold the belief, and identify with our origins/roots laying beyond the stars, beyond even time and space ;)

Personally I believe that our roots are firmly stamped, grounded into our DNA. Giving off a resonance that can not be denied, and that transcends all boundaries.
The native peoples of my land, the Maori, have a belief that they stand on the shoulders of their ancestors. I also hold, that our ancestors, in a metaphysical sense,
are very much a part of who we are.
